Hello Jess, the wig will stay at basic style (no hard spikes) because we don't use any hair styling clay to fix the style when packing the wig (that will destroyed the wig during international shipping process).  After you receive it, just use some hair styling clay to fix the spikes & style it will be okay.  n_n
